Spooky Crafting Adventure

Last week there was a challenge posted on the new Close To My Heart blog, blog.closetomyheart.com. We all know I love a contest and I love a creative challenge.

This is the creative challenge I received in the end...
CREATIVE CHALLENGE 3: In honor of your intuitive password
selection, create a card, layout, or other creation using each of the Close
To My Heart colors that would comprise candycorn: Honey, Goldrush,
and Colonial White
Here is what I came up with to respond to the challenge.

I love Candy Corn so this was a good challenge for me. Yummy!! I created a triangle box with cardstock, a few I made solid candy corn colours, Colonial White, Goldrush and Honey, using the new Score Board. A few I covered with Washi tape, Honey Triangle and Sunset Chevron. They each have three Halloween caramels inside- yummy and it is held together with the new, Black Striped Twill. I am so please with how they turned out. Check out the Close To My Heart blog on the 30th to see if I win.

Come and play with me and take the challenge!!
Enjoy! Chris

Home for the Holidays Ornament

I will start by saying this is one of the hardest projects I have photographed in awhile! LOL ! I did my very best. I tried inside first too dark.. then outside and it was way too windy. But here it is anyways.
This is for sure one of my favorite projects that I have made with the Home for the Holidays stamp of the month from Close to My Heart! It is a spinning ornament that I created using the Yuletide paper and some Neutral Baker's Twine. I cut the ornament shape from page 27 of the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge. (I used the Tag key and cut the middle out). I feel it turned out well.

Home for the Holidays Treat Cone

A cone you say? What do you mean? When I was playing around with this month's Stamp of the Month- Home For the Holidays I kept thinking it would be fun to create something to hang from the tree that you could put treats in, or just use as a decoration. Off I went to look through the Cricut cartridge from Close to My Heart and this is what I came up with.
I cut it from page 42 of the Artiste Cricut cartridge, stamped it with Rudy ink for the candy cane and the new Glacier ink for the candies, added Rudy cardstock that I cut really thin and crumbled up and tied a hanger with the Grey Baker's Twine. See the stamp set isn't just for scrapbooking or card making! Here are the detail pictures.
Don't forget to add this great stamp set to your cart for $5 with a qualifying order of $50, then you will also qualify for the Ribbon Revlry. You could also use the ribbon to hang this cute cone.
You can find out more details on my website, under promotions.

Enjoy! Chris

Creative Blog Hop- About me and Introducing!

Thank you to Sheri from Sheri Says Just Scrap It for nominating me for this slightly different Blog Hop.
This Creative Blog Hop is a way to have an ongoing, never-ending hop that introduces you to other creative crafters and broaden our list of blog artists. What a fun way to expand your eye candy! So the way this works is a answer a few questions about myself and pass you along to the next talented creative person at the end. On with the questions....

What am I working on now?
Well this one is easy- I am working on a bit of everything! I am in the process of designing the page layouts for next months Scrapper's Club, projects to showcase on my blog, designing a few cards for my card buffet and having fun playing with the new Cricut cartridge! (Artfully Sent) Then believe it or not I am in the very beginning stages of some Christmas craftiness! It is always like that a bit of this and a bit of that!

How does my work differ from others in my genre?
Hmmm! I honestly don't have a great answer for this question. I don't know that my work is really the same or different. Honestly I just like to create what I like and I am pretty sure that is what most people do! Hahaha! Best answer I have to that question.

Why do I create?
This on the other hand is an easy question! I have just always created so I don't know what I would do without it. As long as I can remember I have loved crafts and creating. I just grew up in an environment where we are encouraged to create, from sewing for my doll to playing with the homemade play dough!

How does my creative process work?

This is a funny one! I honestly don't have a process that stays the same, other then I can create a big mess. I will take inspiration from all over the place. I feed off of other peoples creativity. I can be inspired from almost anything, a colour, a design and I have even been known to create from a dream I have had. The only things that stay the same is when I start my next project I need to clean my surface in order to make a mess again!

I hope that you have enjoyed reading a little bit more about me. Now I am going to pass you along to a super talented person. She wears many hats and I hope that you will take a few moments to get to know, Jessica at Create By The Lake.
